Apayao's Flood Crisis: A Preventable Tragedy
The Apayao region, particularly the low-lying municipalities of Luna, Pudtol, Santa Marcela, and Flora, faces recurrent and devastating floods. These events tragically claim lives and displace thousands.
Our research (adressed to esteemed President Marcos) indicates that an estimated 4,000 low-income households in these high-risk areas lack the basic safety equipment – a life vest – that could prevent drowning during sudden inundations. Inspired by the Filipino spirit of 'Bayanihan' (communal unity and cooperation), this initiative aims to provide 4,000 certified life vests directly to the most vulnerable families in Apayao's flood zones. A simple life vest offers a crucial layer of protection when waters rise unexpectedly.
We will achieve this in phases. Phase 1 Goal: Fund the first 500 life vests. Subsequent phases will target 500 vests each until we reach 4,000.
